We had a ghost and a cheetah visit us this Halloween. They were more cute than scary, but I may be biased.
Kayla had gymnastics, and so I took Julia to Licton springs to start off our annual tradition. There she met the pumpkin heads. Pretty cool heads made of real pumpkins! Next we headed home, had our friends over for some dinner and neighborhood trick or treating. Kids even got their rounds in before the rain came pouring down. Lots of candy and fun.

Kayla and I went to the cabin to check in on it since it had been a while what with all soccer and gymnastics events. We had a great time together. Played games, went to the local library, watched a movie, and went on a hike. I had read that this particular hike had some pretty fall colors. It was a rainy day but we went anyhow. On the way we peeked into this cave. There is a fire ring so maybe folks spend the night here sometimes.
After the first mile or so we turned onto the Pacific Crest trail to then head towards the lake. By this time it was raining really heavily. We knew it would rain but so it goes here sometimes. What we didn’t plan on was how heavy it rained for most of the hike. I let Kayla use my umbrella but that wasn’t enough. (It’s true she was not dressed for the fall mountain weather, but even I got cold). By the time we got to the lake the trail was basically a waterfall. So much water running on the trail. Our feet were soaked, we looked at the lake, quickly ate our lunch and left again. It was quite an adventure. We even heard thunder and had one flash of lightning. Not much we could do about that mid trail, but glad it ended soon. Kayla was a true trooper and didn’t complain once. I look forward to hiking to this lake again sometime when it is sunny!

I’m sure the day will come when you’ve all seen enough soccer photos but for now I’ll still post about soccer. Julia is doing so well! Her whole team has really grown in the last 3 years. So fun to see them progressing. This year they now play with a goalie and most of the girls take turns in that role. This particular game, Julia scored 4 goals. She was on fire! I of course didn’t manage to get a good shot of that but you’ll have to take my word for it. Games are on Saturdays if anyone wants to head our way to check one out…

It was the annual school walk and roll athon time again. The girls were so excited. The organizers manage to set up a course around all the construction equipment at the school and the girls claimed it felt longer. It was measured at 1/4 mile per lap again.
As this is a rain or shine event we were glad the sun was shining. Tim was able to attend this year and he’ll tell you that it is indeed quite a fun event. The kids get so into and really put their best efforts out there. They are really earning that money for their school.
