Kayla and I went to the cabin to check in on it since it had been a while what with all soccer and gymnastics events. We had a great time together. Played games, went to the local library, watched a movie, and went on a hike. I had read that this particular hike had some pretty fall colors. It was a rainy day but we went anyhow. On the way we peeked into this cave. There is a fire ring so maybe folks spend the night here sometimes.
After the first mile or so we turned onto the Pacific Crest trail to then head towards the lake. By this time it was raining really heavily. We knew it would rain but so it goes here sometimes. What we didn’t plan on was how heavy it rained for most of the hike. I let Kayla use my umbrella but that wasn’t enough. (It’s true she was not dressed for the fall mountain weather, but even I got cold). By the time we got to the lake the trail was basically a waterfall. So much water running on the trail. Our feet were soaked, we looked at the lake, quickly ate our lunch and left again. It was quite an adventure. We even heard thunder and had one flash of lightning. Not much we could do about that mid trail, but glad it ended soon. Kayla was a true trooper and didn’t complain once. I look forward to hiking to this lake again sometime when it is sunny!
