ready, aim, shoot

25 August 2014

The girls are doing Girl Scouts again this year. The troop they belong to gives them plenty of fun things to try out. This summer some of them had a chance to try out archery. Each girl was checked for their dominant eye, given a bow to match their size and instructions.

They all had lots of fun. Some of the girls were able to pop balloons attached to the target. Julia asked if their troop would be going again. Probably not, but when they are in the 4th grade they can do archery at the girl scout camps. Fun stuff.

End of summer fun

24 August 2014

Tim took the girls up to the cabin for a week while I did some subbing work. They had a great time. Backpacking one night, playing by the river, going to the Skykomish Library and getting library cards there, watching movies, playing games, and who knows what else. I think it was the first time they had been there for that long.

The final weekend of that week, I drove up too and some of our friends joined us. I was the only one who did any tubing in the river and it was cold but so fun! I want to find a longer run sometime. We mostly visited and did a great, easy hike on Sunday before the terrible traffic jam home. Fun though!

CD'A reunion

9 August 2014

This summer we had a family reunion in Coeur D’Alene Id. It was a pretty fantastic get together and relaxing time. One of the houses we stayed in was right on the lake and we were able to spend some time on the patio together eating and hanging out.

My girls met their Colorado cousins and had some good times learning some teenage habits. They all spent time with the girls and played games, pool, volleyball, frisbee and more.

This house had many areas one of which was a grassy, beach area that had a bar, bonfire and the volley ball net. There was most certainly some smores making and a new even some bacon smores for the meat lovers.

There was a hiking trail nearby which was great for morning walks and lots of rocks for the more adventurous activities. Kayla was one of the ones brave enough for cliff jumping. She was amazing. My mom jumped, most of the cousins and so finally I did too. I think next time I’ll stick to watching.

Besides paddle boarding, kayaking and floating in the lake, we rented a ski boat for a couple of days. That was a hit with everyone. Tubing, skiing, wakeboarding, fishing, lots of fun. Weather was perfect and it was a trip to remember for sure.
