The after thanksgiving day

25 November 2012

The day after Thanksgiving, several of the family gathered in Portland to see the kids musical Pinkalicious. Pink wings, boas and clothing were donned for the festivities. Here are the girls waiting for the bus into downtown.

After the musical we embarked on a two block journey to have afternoon tea at one of the downtown hotels. It was quite exciting for the girls and Tim. He can’t wait to go to tea again. I think it was the three tiered trays that did it for him. Tiffany and Delores were at the table next to us and seemed to be enjoying themselves as well.

My girls loved playing with the twins. I think they kept following them around trying to pick them up but they were good sports about it. Ava and Olivia are quite busy and fun.

It's getting cold up there.

We hit the cabin for one more non ski weekend getaway. It was nice to just relax and play games all day Saturday. On Sunday we decided to head out Foss River Road and hike to Trout lake. It was raining and cold and there was snow on the ground. As we weren’t expecting the snow we were not quite dressed for the weather, but the girls did really well despite being cold.

Along the trail we came upon this very big tree. I love that we can still find these in the woods. There are not very many of them but they are amazing.

flying

Julia has been asking to go skydiving for some time now. Since her birthday isn’t too far off I decided to look into it. Well, you need to be 18 to go skydiving outside. But, I learned of an indoor skydiving place near Seattle. And, you can do it as young as 3 years old. So, hearing of a two for one deal, I signed the girls up. Here they are waiting for their turn watching some others fly.

It really is quite the operation. There is the waiting time, then the class time and then the gearing up time and finally your flying time. Apparently after you’ve done it once, you skip the class instruction and can get in there sooner. They do it in groups of folks, and your fly time is quite short.

The flying is done in a big wind tunnel. There were loads of first timers there this day and the instructor is in there with you to help guide you and keep you from flying up or crashing. Apparently each slight movement of your arms or legs can make you move or turn. The good flyers were able to stay in place.

Each girl got two flights. The second time through the instructor flew with them and they went way up the tunnel and down and around again. The instructor also does a show off at the end and the one reminded me of how a superhero would fly. Straight up, down, round the circle, backwards, every which way really. Both girls really liked it. Now, I can’t wait for my turn!
