Halloween came and went this year. The girls of course were pretty excited. Kayla was a fairy princess and Julia a princess. We joined forces with some friends again. First heading to the Friends of the forest at Licton Springs park. That was nice as usual. Then back here for some dinner and trick or treating on our street.

We hit the annual pumpkin patch today. We broke with tradition of trying a new farm and hit the same one we went to last year. It was fun again. The girls loved the barrel train rides and shared a barrel while hugging and waving at us. Super cute!
Kayla kept coming back to this competitive duck racing event. The goal was to pump water out of the water pump thereby floating the duck to the bottom. Kayla did this one over and over.
Kayla also was very proud to have caught a fish. Tim was even persuaded to bring it home and try his luck cleaning and cooking it.
Taft girls have all learned to hoola hoop this year. We were sporting our stylish pants above boots look while all hooping together. It’s been fun watching the hula hoop learning. Julia is quite good now too.

We did our first hike of the fall. It was a rainy day and we headed out to Franklin Falls. Julia was the only one dressed appropriately in her rain boots and rain pants. The rest of us were good except for the foot ware. We had no way to know the trail would be mostly flooded. Julia was able to stomp her way through the water while the rest of us had to find a dry path by. One spot of the trail was totally washed away.
The river was raging alongside the trail, so it was no surprise that the water fall was also raging. Talk about some powerful water! We even had a super brief magical moment where the sun shone enough to let us see a rainbow in front of the falls. It was a pretty hike in the old trees with many many varieties and colors of mushrooms. The girls were super hiking troopers and I look forward to more of these hikes with the family.
