We visited the jungle this Halloween. The girls looked more cute than ferocious.
We started the evening off at Licton springs park near Kayla’s school. There was some interesting trick or treating happening there. Rapunzel was one of the “friends of the park” and when the kids asked her to “let down her hair” she did and it was full of lollipops for the kids to take one.
My little elephant wasn’t too sure about all the park fun. There were pirates making the kids walk the plank for their treat, spiders inviting the kids to their lair, and a leaf pile that would offer candy from the branches, among others. It was very creative and fun.
We were even blessed with a double rainbow. If you look closely you can see the faint second one.
Back at the home front our tiger joined forces with the spider princess Micah to take on the street and our little elephant finally started to enjoy the trick or treating.
Ricardo joined the girls on the trick or treating and here they are back home enjoying some of the treats.
Both girls took part in the pumpkin carving this year. Both girls drew their faces (well I sort of helped pick out the shapes from the doodles, but they were there) and Kayla helped to carve them. It’s hard to film glowing pumpkins but you can get an idea at least.

It was pumpkin patch time again. This year we chose a different farm to try out. It was super fun and filled with activities.
Riding in the wheelbarrow and picking out pumpkins was of course one of the activities. There was also a hayride and hot chocolate drinking, plus loads of things we didn’t do this year.
Julia wanted to make sure that her friend Beni found a perfect pumpkin too. It’s fun to be able to do more and more of these kid friendly activities without the little ones falling apart too quickly. They just love it.

We had a nice visit with Auntie Susie and Auntie Sarah. The girls (and Tim) all had a great time, playing at the playground, reading books, playing games and walking to the community center for what was meant to be a country fair. It ended up just a craft fair, but it worked out, and we enjoyed the beautiful sunny day.

We had our first family “hike” today. We braved the woods without any backpacks to carry the girls. It was a very flat walk around a lake, 1.5 miles in all I think. Not too far, but it still took us over 2 hours. There were, after all, leaves to collect, sweeping with twigs to do, treats to be had around the next corner, puddles to stomp in, huckleberries to pick, blackberries to pick, and only one or two whines to make. Julia only needed to be carried a few times. But both were super wet and dirty by the end of the walk. Good day in the woods I’d say.
