I finally did some work in the garden and found a spot for Kayla’s new veggie bin that our neighbor George made for her. Mostly it’s been for digging in so far. We finally planted a few seeds a few days ago in a part of it, so we’ll see if anything grows.
Friday afternoon ended up being beautiful and the girls and I went to the zoo. K. wanted to go to the farm area, so we headed over there after seeing the new flamingos. Julia “mooed” most of the way as we could hear the cow from quite a distance. As usual, the hit was driving the tractor, petting the goats and washing the hands (K. had to do that several times).
Kayla had fun pretending to sell her wares at the market. She likes to pretend to buy things quite a bit at home as well. Usually it’s ice cream though.

Welcome Flash. This is her with her eyes closed. She has been a bit tricky to photograph as she is still a bit afraid here. Now that she is going out she seems much happier, but it’s been a slow adjustment so far. She loves a lap and lots of petting and seems like a gentle spirit.

Both girls are continuing to amaze us (and challenge us). Julia has been practicing some of her new words over and over, and at meal times will often point at the bowl and say “bowl”, then the spoon and say “spoon”, etc. Her favorite (or maybe mine) is “Kayla” which involves alot of layla sounds with lots of tongue. It’s super cute. She seems to love walking (and very nearly running) and still loves being part of all the action.
Kayla’s language is also growing. She’s playing around with he and her, and some other difficult english grammar such as amn’t (aren’t) and other funny sounding past tense attempts. She is often the “big kid” now at the parks which blows me away. She tries new things at the playground all the time. She continues to make up songs and is really into the imaginary play at the moment.
