There haven’t been many entries lately as I have been seriously sleep deprived. Between night wakings and my own insomnia it’s been a rough go. I was watching Kayla today and realized that there has been some more developmental progress. I’ve been noticing over the last couple of days that she is either clapping or saying more in sign language. Maybe it’s each one. Sometimes it’s while eating, other times just when she seems happy. She also is learning to open her hand when I say “open”. This is important when she grabs onto my hair for dear life, or some other object that isn’t the best for her to have a death grip on. She has been a super sturdy sitter for some time, but recently started bouncing up and down a little. I had her in the grocery cart seat for the first time last week, and she was bouncing possibly to the music. Maybe she’ll be a little dancer. It is super cute when she does it. She has also started looking at books more, and not only wanting to get them into her mouth. She seems to enjoy the books. Her new foods that she seems to really like are avacado, banana and black beans.
Kayla had her first snowboarding experience on Sunday. Crystal mountain opened this weekend (yes before Thanksgiving!), so we decided to give it a go. Jason came with us to ride with whichever one of us was not in the lodge with Kayla. In the lunch room we ran into some folks we had met almost two years ago, and they were there with their baby and some friends who also had a 6 month old, so Tim and I each had company while inside. I think it worked out well and am looking forward to a good snowboarding season if the weather pattern holds.
Another first for Kayla last week was her first cold. That wasn’t much fun for anyone. She only had a fever one day, and really didn’t seem to mind the constant stream of snot running down her nose. It was harder for her to breath while sleeping though. Guess there will be more of that to come.
