The girls and I headed to Florida for the school winter break. The weather was fantastic and we had a great time. It was quite the adventure trip. First up, we were invited to the neighbors to get a “ride” up their mast. Kayla went first and I followed. The view from the top was amazing. Way over the rooftops I could see the harbor. Very lovely.
Next up was a canoe trip at the Myakka River State Park. What was so exciting about this was the alligator infested waters we were canoeing in.
These alligators were no joke. I was very much enjoying it until one jumped, yes jumped, right in front of our canoe where I was sitting. I may have have let out a little scream, but I bet you would have too if you saw that alligator head right in front of your own!
After the canoe adventure we headed over to the canopy walk at the park. The girls loved that. There was a moving suspension bridge to get to the lookout tower.
After all the state park excitement, we were treated to an evening out on the sailboat. We anchored in a nearby anchorage and took the dinghy into town. There was not much wind for sailing on the way out and too much on the way back, but we still enjoyed it. It was the first time the girls had spent the night on a sailboat.
No trip to Punta Gorda would be complete without a stop at the Tiki Hut bar. After all that excitement we needed a bit of a refreshment. All in all another great visit to Florida.
