Kayla’s PE teacher has some interns this year. One of them was a UW gymnast. The PE teacher organized for the school to come out and support her for her last meet as she is a senior. Somehow Kayla talked me into going. It was quite fun actually. I had never been to one before and we had a good view of the bars and floor.
We invited some friends to go with us and Kayla just had a grand time. It did seem like she was a bit more interested in obtaining concessions than the gymnastics, but she seemed inspired in her next class so she must have gotten something out of it.

This is the girls first year in girl scouts and part of the fundraising includes selling girl scout cookies. The girls had lots of fun with that and even did two booth sales (selling at grocery stores) to help them reach their goal. Who wouldn’t buy from these two cute feisty girl scouts? They did really well getting in people’s faces and asking if they wanted to buy cookies. When you are very young this method is actually quite effective. Uncomfortable for mom maybe, but it works. Check out Julia’s cute sign- Cookies by girls scouts. Love it!

The girls and I kept busy while Tim was on his 2 week business trip. There was a kids health and fitness expo held at the girls school one evening so we decided to give it a go. My girls of course found the one unhealthy treat there- a sugary lollipop. Their next stop was the yoga mats. It is indeed possible to do yoga while having a lollipop in your mouth. The teacher was great and chose poses that would work with the lollies. The dresses and skirts didn’t seem to slow them down either. They stayed at that station for 15 minutes or so enjoying the moves.

Julia’s kindergarten class goes to visit their Grandpals at the Hearthstone every other week. Each week the teacher picks a child to read a story to everyone. This time it was Julia’s turn. She read a book called “Princess Smartypants”. It had a lot of big words and she really only had a couple of days to practice the book, but she did great. I love how so many of the kids get dressed up for these visits. Many of the girls especially love to wear dresses on the Hearthstone days. It is very sweet.
