This year the girls and I met some friends at the Italian festival down at Seattle Center. There were some fun kid activities including a puppet show and the pizza toss. Kayla, Julia and Ella all donned their bakers hats and joined a table of kids in patting dough and throwing it up in the air trying to catch it on the way down, among other things. There were several throwing attempts, needless to say the dough was not eaten as the ground caught quite a few of the dough throws. They sure had fun trying this though.

On Sunday night the girls and I came home with a little 8 week old (we think) kitten. He is tiny and cute. This has been on our mind quite a long time, well my mind anyhow. I worry how Flash will do when she finally meets him. Hopefully that will all work out eventually.
This is the first kitten for me and the girls. Not sure about Tim. But kittens are as fun as they say. He’s super playful and cuddly at times. At night time even the first night he just jumped right up on our bed (quite a scramble for one so little) and cuddled up. He seems to like to sleep with Tim a lot and cuddled Julia the other night when she came in our bed. No name yet, but I’m sure there will be soon.

Several of Julia’s classmates were on a soccer team that needed another player, so Julia decided to try it. Someone else actually filled the spot first, but they let Julia be on the team anyhow. She loved her first practice and game. She did really well considering she had never played before. At this age the coaches are on the field with them which is helpful as some kids (perhaps Julia is one of them) don’t always seem to know what to do or where to go. Their shirts are like dresses they are so big on them, and they are like a herd of animals, but it is cute to watch.

The girls and I went to another house concert with another fabulous bluegrass band. This little guy (the son of the hosts) “played” his violin all night along with the band. At one point he even got right up there with them and stood next to them playing and dancing. It was rated way high on the cuteness scale. We are so lucky to be able to enjoy music like that in a backyard and up close and personal.

Well the first day of school arrived. Julia was full of anticipation wondering what the day would be like. We arrived quite early because I had to host a PTA table, but it was a gorgeous day, so we didn’t mind. Julia and I walked Kayla to her classroom for a quick drop off, then I went to Julia’s class for a slightly longer linger. She didn’t seem to mind me leaving at all. I found myself emotional and teary eyed which took me a bit by surprise. It’s hard to believe that Julia has started Kindergarten and is just so ready and happy to be there. I’ll have my days full at first with all the PTA work they talked me in to, so we’ll see how things phase me once they settle down (if they do).

We spent our labor day weekend up at the cabin. Most of the time was spent painting. Our friends Jenn and John and their two kids came up to help. John and Tim did all the paint spraying and Tim and I worked together on the trim. It looks great and I am so glad that is finished! We also were able to enjoy the river more as it was hot and the river was low. The kids even went in and they all found a nice sandy spot to enter the river. The fire pit was tested out and works great. We also met a few another family and some saw lot of kids there. It felt good to be there and the guys did great on the paint!
