the 4th fun

4 July 2012

For the 4th this year we went to our friend’s new home in Carnation. She has two dogs and the girls just loved every minute with them. In the photo Kayla is hugging Sophie. Sammy is much bigger- a 100 pound 10 month old golden retriever who just loved all the attention and hugs from the girls. Julia woke up the next morning to say that she missed Sophie.

After we got home, Miss Kayla let her mother give her loose tooth a tug. Well, out it came. She now has a giant hole in the top front row. Somehow this lost tooth feels more like a milestone than the lower ones. She looks really different now and that smile with those cute little teeth will be forever gone. She was very excited and will gladly use sentences with the word “fifth” in it to hear how funny she sounds.

sky fun

1 July 2012

We spent the weekend up at our cabin. It rained as usual, but that didn’t stop us from getting out to do a little hike. We tried out Barclay lake which is a pretty easy 4.5 mile roundtrip hike. When we first started off another family with a 5 year old was starting as well. The kids hit it off and we hung out together. Julia has been doing great with the hiking, and basically ran the whole way to the lake. Sophia’s family had a fishing pole and net and the girls enjoyed “fishing” at the lake before heading back to try out the ice cream at Der Baring store.

After our hike we headed back to the cabin for a lovely sushi dinner. Kayla decided she wanted to make some rolls herself and she did a pretty good job. It was a mighty tasty dinner and fun weekend.
