Kayla decided to enter the science fair this year. She came up with the idea of how many colors mixed together will make brown. Tim was her main partner for this project. I’m not sure their data would have passed any stringent validity rules, but this is all about the process not product. I think Kayla enjoyed the whole thing. We’ll find out next year if she decides to enter again.

Well, she went ahead and did it. Kayla turned 7! She chose a park party this year and we scored with the weather. It was a fantastic 70 something degree day and the kids had lots of fun. They painted flower pots and then put a flower in it, did some treasure hunting, snack eating and some other games too. Kayla’s actual birthday was sunny and warm as well, and she had her garden club, time with friends after school and a mellow night at home. I should mention that yes, the kids are lined up in height order. It was one of the things they had to do to earn their treasure.

where's the gravity?

The girls and I had some fun this spring break. We had some down time but also took one morning to go to breaky then hit the climbing gym. This day we went to the science center and lucked out in that it was a super quiet day there. Kayla had some fun playing around with some anti-gravity antics.

Julia had some fun playing around too. I remember my dad doing this in the shop windows of NYC. It brought back some fond memories. After this fun we hit the rest of the science center including the butterfly house of course.

Where in the world is Kayla?

All the kids in Kayla’s school did self portraits in art class. They then were hung up in a collage. It looks pretty cool. I dare you to try and guess which one is Kayla… Have it? … Give up yet? Okay, okay, just a little hint…

Can you get it yet? Kayla is in the middle of this photo. Look for her near the bottom, middle or the full collage. I think she did pretty well for a 6 year old.

Easter 2012

8 April 2012

Easter was actually sunny and warm this year. Hurray! Our street easter egg hunt was a success. Lots of eggs for the kiddos. Mostly candy, but some other things too. Lots of kids took part this year. We then went to Kayla’s school play of Wizard of Oz. It was really good I must say. Kayla says she wants to join next year, we’ll see.

After all that, we got a late start to head to Longview, hitting traffic, only to have Kayla say “I don’t think I have any shoes.” Really?? Back we go to get an even later start. What can I say? Anyhow, Easter Sunday was lovely too and the twins were charming the pants off everyone. Kayla and Julia seemed to have a good time too.
