The girls had a fun time thinking about Halloween this year. It was the first year they both put more thought into what they wanted to be and their costumes.
Julia decided to be a wizard, and Kayla was Pippi Longstocking. She put patches on her dress and even had her pet monkey with her. We did our usual Friends of the forest trick or treating as well as hitting the 81st st as usual with our friends.

The girls and I braved the pumpkin patch alone this year. We went back to Jubilee farm, one we went to when Kayla was 1 year old or so. Kayla wanted to cut her own pumpkin from the vine and you can do this at this farm. The girls had pony rides, apple cider, and waited patiently for the one wagon pulled by horses to come and take us to the pumpkin field. The other wagons all had tractors. It was a pretty fun ride. The horses were sturdy. On the way back we took one of the other wagons (in the picture). We were right at the back on the wheel and were almost bumped out several times when the wheels hit a rut. It was super fun and we all giggled a lot. The other folks up front had no idea what they were missing out on.

Kayla participated in her second walkathon for her school. This year the PTA gave each child a green Greenlake elementary shirt. Their laps were tallied right on the back of the shirt. Kayla did 14 laps this year. It was a very different experience this year, in that while her class was walking the sun was shining and super warm. Kids were sweating. Last year they were wet from the pouring rain. They all seem to have fun either way though.

Julia and I had a fun visit at the zoo. While there we came across this giant spider web and just look at that beautiful spider there.
Julia has really been enjoying her preschool this year. She has made a good friend and is enjoying her movement class there where they learned about the skeleton. Her monkey bar skills are really improving too and she is quite the monkey.
