yummy!

29 June 2011

Today we hit the road and went strawberry picking. The berries were perfect and ripe and ready to eat. We picked a whole bunch and could have kept on picking. They were gobbled up in a day or two they were that good.

bangs

23 June 2011

Kayla has been talking about getting bangs for some time. I finally took her in. She looks great. The place did some super cute french braids too. I can’t quite recreate that, but we have the photo to remember that by :-).

pottery

21 June 2011

Julia took a pottery class recently and really enjoyed it. The parents helped out in class when needed. Most of the projects were all her own, the dragon boat we worked on together. Her she is displaying her fine art.

graduation

20 June 2011

Kayla is now officially a first grader! Hard to believe that has happened. They had a graduation picnic complete with a hula hoop walk through. Each child had written a poem that was given to the parents. Kayla is standing with her teacher Mr. Hansen.

deception pass

11 June 2011

We had our first tent camping trip of the year to Deception pass state park. We had a pretty nice site and enjoyed ourselves. We had a nice walk along the beach and through the trails. Easy to forget how pretty it is on the water.

Julia enjoyed herself on this trip, and had fun being a tree in this large tree trunk at our campsite.

Kayla was very proud of her Junior Ranger status she received at the campground. Both girls did the junior ranger scavenger hunt and then earned a passport and pin. Kayla tried hard to recruit anyone who walked past the campsite. I don’t think she had any takers, but it wasn’t for lack of trying.

camp long

3 June 2011

The kindergarten classes headed to camp long for their first overnight. They day started with their 5th grade buddies joining them at the camp, followed by activities, lunch and fun. The buddies returned to school and the families showed up for a potluck dinner. We were asked to leave close to 8 so the kids could go to their cabins to get ready for bed. All but 4 kids stayed overnight and the trip was reported a success.

walk walk walk

1 June 2011

Kayla’s school had a walk-a-thon for their spring fundraiser. There was much buzz for some time about it and when the day came, their northwest spirits were tested. It rained and rained, and most of the kids didn’t have on coats (as Kayla said, “we didn’t know it was raining out”). So they were all pretty wet and muddy but all walked the whole hour and all seemed to be having fun. Way to go. Our little one did 11 laps this go round. Look for her in a light blue shirt holding hands with her friend in a purple striped sweater.
