Kayla skiing

29 January 2011

Kayla has made the transition to being a skiier. (She is the one in the pink coat and black pants.) She has had a few lessons this year and one day she decided to try the run without holding my hand. That was all she needed to be a confident skier. She was singing to herself, even shouting “woohoo” a few times. The problem was convincing her it was time to go home. She now is going through race courses, trying out backwards skiing, going over little jumps and being really adventurous, all while doing snowplow. She has decided she does not need lessons next year. We’ll see. Snowplow will only get her so far. But for now it’s perfect.

Hope Lodge 2010

28 January 2011

Hard to believe it was Hope Lodge time again so soon, but it was. It rained most every day with a couple inches of snowfall thrown in, but it was still a great time. The ski area snow was pretty soft most days (though very heavy and hard to turn in places). Each day offered very different conditions from the next keeping things interesting.

Our usual “hope lodge friends” joined us again this year as well as many more folks from as far as Lake Tahoe for the second half of the week. It’s really neat to watch the kids grow up together and have so much fun too. The sledding run was pretty slick, but that didn’t stop many from using it.

Julia turns 4!

18 January 2011

Julia had a nice small birthday party at home. The kids made rolls, did a bean bag obstacle course, colored paper dolls and did lots of screaming.

The kids enjoyed the rolls they made and I think Julia had a great time. She was pretty excited about the party for a while.

new years day

1 January 2011

We had a nice New Years eve at a friends house this year. On new years day we decided to walk at Discovery park. We were not the only ones with that idea as it was sunny and lovely out. The park was crowded, but we all had a great time walking about and playing in the sandpit.
