Kayla in December

29 December 2010

Kayla’s kindergarten class goes on a bi-monthly field trip to the nearby Hearthstone retirement center. Each child has a grand-pal that they see each time and do an activity with. For Christmas Santa surprised everyone and Kayla and Lillian (her grand pal) got to have their photo taken with Santa.

Kayla was able to take another Elves and Fairies class that she loves so much. This was a three day class ending with a dinner (snack really) theater show for the parents during which they performed their play. Kayla was a cat in this skit and really spoke well and got into it.

The girls and I went ice skating at Seattle Center again this holiday season. This time Miss Kayla decided to give it a go without the walker. She did great! It was hard to believe this was only her 2nd time on skates. But, this speaks to Kayla’s personality. Once she’s ready to do it, she just does.

Julia in December

28 December 2010

Julia has been having a lot of fun lately. She really enjoys imaginative play. Here she is dancing with her dance streamer having fun with it on Christmas. Julia is a very generous girl and is very sweet and kind too. This is a really fun stage with her. She is so expressive and thoughtful and will talk up a storm if you let her.

A new thing to do at our house is to stand in front of the heating vent and let the air puff out your skirt. Julia is taking her first ballet class with her sister and seems to be having a lot of fun. This may be a ballet pose in front of the heater.

Julia likes lots of things lately. Her shadow is a bit hit. Especially the game of “I can step on your shadow”. Julia really loves going to preschool and has made some new friends and lots of artwork. She is also a stronger walker and that leads to some fun adventures as well.

Kayla had her first school performance last week. The kindergarten, first and second grades all sang together. It actually sounded quite nice. Many parents crowded into the little school gym to watch. Ask Kayla to sing the song for you sometime. I think Julia knows it quite well by now too.
