First day of preschool for J.

14 September 2010

Julia started preschool this fall. She was a bit hesitant at first, but jumped right in. I have had nothing but a positive response from her since she has started going. She usually does a little happy dance when she finds out it’s her day to go. On the second week of school she told me that it is “really really really fun.” That is music to a mom’s ears!

lullaby moon

We went to see this free public performance at Gasworks park. They have live music, dancing and some singing, otherwise it is silent. They had several lighted decorated boats and things on the water. You can see a lit bed on the lake in this photo. There was also a giant swan and several babies that came by later. They also had lights on balloons and sent them out into the water. you can sort of see that in the photo- the purple-ish glowing lights on the water. It was super neat and reminded me of fireflies as they danced above the water. The girls and Tim loved the show. Maybe there will be one next time you visit seattle.

first day of kindergarten!

8 September 2010

First day at greenlake elementary school! Kayla did so great. She jumped right in and it sounds like she had a lot of fun. She has really been excited about school and I think that has helped me get ready too. Her teachers name is Mr. Hansen and I keep hearing really great things about him.

This was Kayla hard at “work” mere minutes after the bell rang. The whole class seemed very well adapted actually. I’m looking forward to hearing more about it from Kayla as the year goes.

I put this picture in because I love that the girls are not limited by regular old hiking clothes. Kayla even was called a mountain princess by a passing hiker. I like that. I think it’ll stick.
