30 January 2010

Being January it was time for Hope Lodge again. Some of the same friends came back and some new ones joined us. It was fun to see all the kids running around together and having a good time without the grownups.

It snowed a bunch the first night which made for some fresh powder. Tim and I were able to ride together for a part of the morning while the girls took a ski lesson. The rest of the week didn’t lend itself to new snow, but we still managed to have fun. All the younger kids had fun playing in the snow and eating it. Kayla led them on a hike up the hill by the cabin, following a couple of the dads who were skiing down. The kids then glacaded down. Julia and I built a snowman and watched from below.

Both girls took ski lessons the first two days. Kayla took to it much better than Julia. I’m not sure Julia even had her skis on at all the second day. Kayla really had fun and was doing pretty well. Day 3 and 4 were a bit much on her, but I think she remembers the good first two days.

happy 3rd birthday Julia!

Grandpa Jim came up to help Tim with a house project on Saturday, and brought some cake along for a little pre-birthday celebration. The girls played a game with him and were happy for him to read them their bedtime stories. Tim and I were happy he was able to help get the project done!

Julia had a birthday party with some of her little friends on Sunday. She wanted some balloons around the place for decoration. Kayla and Julia both helped to get set up for the party.

Julia was a bit shy about blowing out her birthday candles, but Kayla helped her out and the cake and ice cream eating began.

The kids all had fun playing with toys, stringing pasta necklaces, making collages and playing with the balloons.

After the party we went to our park with a couple of our friends. Our park has been flooded a lot lately with all the rain we have been having. The water around the merry go round was quite deep, but the kids still had a great time getting all wet. Well, it was fun until they started getting cold. Lucky we live close by.

More post holiday fun

Both girls love to sing on this keyboard that Kayla got for Christmas from Uncle Kelly and Aunt Jennifer. It’s really cute to have them sing their little hearts out with no inhibitions.

The girls love to play with their friends most chance they can get. One playground near us has some fun trees that the girls like to play in and around.

Kayla has been into building block towers lately and is quite proud of them. Some of them get pretty fancy.

The girls made some gingerbread houses at a friends party before Christmas, and they were finally given the go ahead to eat however much they wanted before they were recycled. It was quite amusing to watch them trying to eat the houses. Kayla had some black icing on hers which consequently she got all over her face.

Happy New Year

1 January 2010

We went up to Crystal mountain with some friends for New Years Eve and day. It was a bit rainy, so we mostly played inside and in the snow the first day. The girls had fun building a snowman, helping daddy shovel the walkway, making snow angles and throwing snowballs. Julia even took a turn on the skis and did really well! We went snowboarding NY day and though it wasn’t really the greatest conditions it was still lots of fun.
