As to be expected, the girls were looking quite forward to Halloween this year. Kayla dressed as a princess and Julia an elephant (same as last year). Both were pretty cute.
We started off the evening at the Friends of the Forest trick for treating at the park near Kayla’s school. It was as fun as last year though Rapunzel never did show up. Tim was sick this weekend, so he guarded the house while we were gone.
After the park we headed home for a quick dinner before hitting our street. Ella and Tristan both joined our girls for the festivities and fun was had by all. Some had so much fun they had some major sugar meltdowns by the end of the night, but all was resolved and good times remembered.

We went on a rainy muddy day to meet some friends at Stocker farm to get some pumpkins and play a bit. We sloshed through a very muddy corn maze and watched the girls have fun in the kids zone.
The girls and I enjoyed a ride on the rain barrel train. Kayla wanted to ride with me but Julia was brave enough to ride alone. She had a pretty good time I think.
Kayla also really enjoyed hammering some nails into these stumps. So, if any of you are looking for a nice gift for her- just find a nice tree stump, add some nails and a kid size hammer, and you’ll give her hours of entertainment. I was actually quite surprised at how well a 4 year old could manage this task alone.

At the childrens museum the other day, Kayla insisted on building a house in the way she wanted (even if it might not work structurally). With the help of a few suggestions from me, it worked well enough for her. You can see the wing nuts that were used on some of the pieces. The walls didn’t quite meet, and you can’t really see the 4th wall, but she enjoyed it and was proud of her work as she should be. She even added a roof after this picture was taken.
