Our little Kayla turned 4 years old! Wow. We had a nice family celebration on her birthday thursday with a quiche for dinner as she had requested. There was a celebration at her school that day too with some gingerbread and whipped cream.
On Friday Tim was home, and we had Micah over in the afternoon for cupcakes before taking the bus to the Scratch Patch for some rock hunting fun. We did this outing in lieu of a party this year. The Scratch patch is a store with two rooms full of rocks scattered on the floor. You can sit right in them to find your favorite and identify them if you’d like.
This picture shows Kayla saying “oh, so pretty”. The girls were all able to take home a bag of their favorite rocks and gems.
The bus was pretty fun for the girls too, and though we had to walk as far as we were able to ride, no one seemed to mind. It was a beautiful sunny day out, and we went home to play in the backyard in Kayla’s new tent/tunnel contraption from her London family (thanks guys).

We utilized one of Tim’s forced vacation days to take a break from the city and go camping. We didn’t go too far, but it was still away and in the woods. We went to South Whidbey State park. The campground was nearly empty, and that was a bit of a treat. There were a couple of walks in the woods that we took, and though Kayla did great at walking most times, Tim certainly makes a great pack mule when needed. :-)
The walks in the woods were just amazingly beautiful. I’m not sure if it was the few scattered super big old growth trees, or just the nature of the trail, but we really enjoyed it. Kayla walked the whole mile for the first “hike” we did.
There was a beach we could walk down to as well. Really nice with the Olympic mountains seeming right across the water. The girls loved playing in the sand and collecting stones and such. If it weren’t for her smores obsession, Kayla may not have wanted to leave the beach. All in all it was a really nice get away weekend and makes me look forward to more camping trips this year.

The weekend events started out on our street for the annual egg hunt. This year most of the kids posed for a photo. Both of our girls loved it of course, and next year Kayla will most certainly keeping up with the rest of the pack. She did pretty well this year.
We then drove down to Longview for more fun. We saw the Taft side for a bit of a visit on Sunday morning.
We also shared an easter dinner with the Spriggle/Macbein/Reardon clan. There was another easter egg hunt and yummy meal sharing.
There was also a birthday celebration for Kayla. Thanks everyone for the great gifts. She really had a good time.

Well, the nice weather finally came. Some much needed spring warmth. Tim took the girls to our local park for a little picnic on Sunday while I did some work on the lawn. They were there for quite some time, so they must of had fun.
Yesterday the girls and I met some friends at Carkeek park for another lovely day. The girls played at the playground for a while and then we went down to the beach for some amazing mountain and water viewing. The girls had a good time together. In this picture with K and J is Cady.
