We were able to manage another January trip to Hope Lodge by Stevens Pass. It wasn’t quite the 5 foot snow dumping adventure we had last January, but we did get 9 inches one day. Not too shabby.
We drove up to Stevens Pass ski area on Sunday and had some fun there before we headed to the cabin. It was actually pretty icy the first two days, so I pulled out some skis. Haven’t done that in a long time. It was much more fun than snowboarding on ice though!
Kayla and Julia had fun with the other two youngsters there, Autumn and Cadence. They loved tumbling on the mats in the loft, playing in the snow (well the two older ones did), doing art work, playing games, and snacking of course. In this picture it was a rare quiet moment when all the girls were just content watching the fire.
Tim was good about doing some snow playing and made some sort of snow seats for the kids. Kayla and Autumn were just happy eating the snow. (suprise ;-))

Well, our youngest turned 2 today. Hard to believe. We had a small birthday party for her with just two little friends.
The weather ended up turning super gorgeous, so we all headed to our local park to play a bit. It was really almost spring like weather. Who knew we could have an outside party in January?
The party was in the morning, so we just had a nice mellow afternoon. Julia enjoyed the umbrella her sister got for her, and every time she opens it she says “it’s raining it’s pouring”. Very cute.

Well, the weather warmed up a lot, so there was a lot of rain and melted snow. I geared the girls up and took them to play at our local playground. Half of it was a mini wading pool. I’m not sure why this picture came out so “artistic” but you can get an idea of the amount of water.
We, of course, were the only ones playing there. The next day all the water was soaked in already.

On new years eve day we headed up near Alpental for some snow play. Kayla first rolled down the snow bank (for fun) followed by Tim. Amazing how a year older (for Kayla) can change things. She loves the snow and playing in it. Well, okay mostly eating it, but having fun too.
We drove up to White pass for a weekend of skiing (after an adventure of sorts, first heading to Stevens pass to ride, then doing middle of the night through snowy elk filled road driving) and fun. Jason joined us and took turns riding with Tim and I. I was able to take the girls sledding. Kayla and hit some jumps with the sled the first day, and just had fun the second day.
Kayla got back on her skis and did so great. We just kept it fun this time and on the flats, though the “flat” was still sloped enough for her to get some speed. Julia wanted to try out the skis too. I think the boots are as big as her whole legs. She didn’t last very long.
