Another Halloween came and went. Two out of our four pumpkins survived for carving. The other two were dropped down the front steps a few too many times by little hands. Oops. Our little owl allowed her costume (the hat) on for at least a picture. Most of the pics were of her pulling it off. Julia seemed to enjoy the rest of Halloween though, especially the glowing jack o lanterns and our ghost lights.
Kayla had a great time this year. She did part of the trick or treating with Micah and really gained confidence after a few houses. Marching right up to them, knocking, saying trick or treat. I think she liked the idea of candy, but it was the activity itself that was the most rewarding it seems. She also really liked handing out the candy to those knocking on our door. Whenever the doorbell rang she ran to it giggling and was ready for the giving of treats.

On Saturday, we were sitting outside, and Julia decided it was time to crawl up the stairs. Nothing like starting out on concrete steps, but the berries her sister were pulling off the bushes were pretty tempting. Here is a photo of her attempting the same feat inside.

Julia weighed in at 17.3 lbs, and was 27 inches long at her 9 month appointment. This photo gives a good shot of all her teeth. She still loves to sing, and seems to “coo” more these days too.

We tried a new pumpkin patch this year and met up with Joe, Korey and friends. Vicky was here too and joined the fun. It was a beautiful sunny day. As you can see there were a lot of pumpkins. This farm already cut most of them but left them in the fields.
Kayla attached herself to this little green pumpkin and chose that to take home.
Julia spent a good portion of the time grumping as it was her nap time. After I finally got her to sleep, she woke up happy and enjoyed some time with Grandma.
It was nice to have Vicky visit. Tim and I actually went out on two dates while she was here. It feels good to be able to get away for bits at a time again.

I had to share Kayla’s fashion choices for the last two days. If left to her own devices she would wear a t-shirt on these cold days, so I convinced her to wear a long sleeve shirt underneath. No one can say she is a boring dresser for sure. She’s almost camouflaged with the toys in this picture.
I have no idea why she is trying to eat her boot, but you can see the stripe with stripe combo she is sporting here. What is a mom to do when she let’s her two year old dress herself. Chuckle at the beauty of being two and uninhibited.

Who let this man dig up the best part of our grass? This was the only non-lumpy part left!. If he had his way he would have dug all the way to the sidewalk but we didn’t let him. Nope, that’s far enough we said. Someday we’ll have to do it, but not yet.
