Quinn visits

28 March 2007

Julia had her first playdate today. Quinn is one week older than Julia and came over to say hello. Kayla seemed to have more fun than Julia did. She was as sweet with him as with Julia and took care of him for most of the visit.

to pee or not to pee

24 March 2007

Our little toddler has decided to potty train herself. It’s great. Even better is we didn’t need to force the issue. She love to sit and read on the pot. Here she is reading “the potty book” she chose from the library a long time ago.

Island bound

14 March 2007

Oma and Opa flew out to visit and so we decided to take a little hiatus out on Orcas Island. Kayla seemed to really enjoy the ferry ride, and was even serenaded by a high school choir class. They had done some singing and Kayla liked it so much that she wanted “more singing”. Oma took K. over and they sang Jingle bells for her.

The rain and wind let up for long enough Saturday morning for us to take a hike around Mountain lake in Moran State Park. The rest of the weekend was super windy, rainy and just plain stormy. It was nice to have a place to be protected from the elements.

Kayla loves to climb into this mat with Julia Rose, as K. calls her. I think she has more fun in there right now than Julia does. Kayla still seems okay with her new sister, though there are certainly times when it’s hard on her and those times are then hard on us due to her minor melt downs. She is a trooper though, and Julia is lucky to have such a loving sister.

Girls updates

8 March 2007

Aaahhh. I did it. We are surviving, the three of us, and look, both girls sleeping at the same time! Don’t be fooled though, the little one really doesn’t stay asleep long unless being worn in the carrier. Good thing she is still on the light side. Phew.

I’m guessing many of Julia’s first photos will be in this position. Just an updated photo for you all out there.
Kayla likes to have a say in her outfits these days. This pink shirt and pants are her two current favorites to wear. The pink shirt in the sleeping photo is her other favorite.

Kayla is really a social girl. She loves having friends over and inviting them to see her room or the playspace in the basement. There are a couple of new friends we are seeing weekly and it is cute to watch them play together. For those who don’t want to share, Kayla does a pretty good job at holding her own as well. Not a bad trait for later in life. She gets so excited on days when we will see a friend and was “ready to go now” today about half an hour before it was time to leave.
