Merry Christmas

26 December 2006

Being that I am large and round and getting closer to the due date, we decided to stay home for christmas this year. We had a really nice time together.

The festivites started on Wed. with a visit from our Colorado friends Mark and Shayna, and their almost 1 year old Aiden. Joe, Korey and Beni, also almost 1 came over as well.

Tim had Kayla all dressed up and decked out in her sunglasses for our trip to the science center. Kayla got to play lots in the toddler area, and we got to go see an Imax film. Kayla made it almost all the way through. We then had a nice Indian dinner afterwards which wound Kayla up so much she had trouble sleeping. She had a great time and her shirt and face were both quite yellow from the spices.

We opened presents on Christmas eve, and spent a large part of the day cooking. Kayla wasn’t feeling well and so we took it easy. Tim made stuffed squash and I made a soup and we feasted. Kayla enjoyed handing out the presents more than unwrapping them, but she loved each of her gifts.

Kayla even had time to draw on her new easel. Santa brought her some paints the next day.

Despite Kayla still being a bit under the weather, we decided to go to Magnussun park on Tuesday. Kayla had fun walking in the opposite direction we were trying to go and looking at all the dogs. She of course brought one of her new dolls and didn’t want to part with her.

more festivites

17 December 2006

Kayla and I hung out on Saturday while Tim went snowboarding. We had a lot of fun.

We went to Leo (3) and Ollie’s (1) birthday party on Saturday. Kayla got to partake in one of her favorite activities, bouncing and jumping on the bed. Kayla also decorated some holiday cookies with some frosting and sprinkles.

Next she got to play the pennywhistle, though I wasn’t sure if she was making the sound herself or if she was actually playing it. Leo serenaded her for a bit before handing it off. T

This Sunday I invited some women friend’s over to help me celebrate the baby growing inside of me. I decided to have my belly henna’d and she ended up doing my hands as well. This picture is before the paste came off. We had a nice time and it was a good way to end the weekend.

tree hunting

10 December 2006

We decided to get a tree this year as we will be staying home for christmas. We went to a farm to cut one ourselves and Kayla helped. She found the perfect sized Kayla tree and had her saw all ready to go, but alas the tree was too small to be cut down.

Kayla has been trying on hats for quite some time now, but has added walking around in our shoes to the bag of tricks. It is pretty cute.

She has tried to put on a shirt or two of Tim’s, but isn’t quite able to manage that yet. She desperately wants to be able to put on things by herself, but she might just have to wait a bit yet.
