“Hi, da da, da da, mama (oma) hi”, or something like that. Talking on the phone is still one of Kayla’s favorite things to do. How August flew by. It’s already getting darker so much earlier. Oma and Opa visited us this month before traveling into Canada. We had a lot of fun going to many playgrounds, walking, bike riding and hanging out. I also had my ultrasound this month, all looks good and they tell us we are having another little girl. We must have done other fun things, but I can’t remember much anymore.
We decided to camp at a relatively closeby campground out in the snoqualmie-baker national forest. It was only 100 or so miles away, and it took only a mere 4 hours to get there on Friday evening. Really, it did. The drive was pretty awful and we kept thinking about all the 4 hour away places we could have gone, but then we arrived at the campground and it all seemed worth it. We were right by the river and it was a nice spot to camp. Really pretty.
Kayla found a taste for huckleberries and attacked the bushes near our campsite to try and get to one of the remaining few. It was somewhat comical, and of course very cute.
We did some hiking on both days, the hike on Sunday being a sweet northwest forest hike alongside a river, complete with lots of moss and big trees. The day before, Kayla copied her daddy by using her stick (or dada as she so called it) and walking with it all over camp after we got back as well. You can also see in the picture that she did not hold back on getting dirty.
To add to all the fun we were having, we noticed on Sunday (well, I thought I had noticed it saturday night but Tim convinced me that I was having a vision of the mouse spirt who had an important message for me. And I for some reason was convinced by that), anyhow, we noticed that we had a mouse visitor in the car. It left presents for us all over the place and tore our tissues to shreds. We never did find out what happened to it, but I was a bit leary on the drive home that it might pop out at any time. How much more exciting could things get than that?
At her 15 month checkup, Kayla weighed in at 19 pounds 4 ounces and was 29 inches long.
We had quite a busy weekend. On Friday night April, George and Holt came over for Thai Tom take out. Saturday we headed over to Vashon for the earth fair. There we met up with some friends and Kayla got to see her 6 day older buddy Ava. Both girls were all over the place true to toddler form.
Kayla was able to do some art work while at the fair. This picture shows the artist working on her first ever painting. She is very focused as you can see.
Sunday we had some friends over for brunch, and Sunday afternoon we drove to Normandy park for a concert in the park series with our friend Erin and her kids. The first musician was a kids singer, though I forget his name. Kayla did lots of dancing and then ran around the park quite a bit. It was a really fun weekend.
