We decided to go to Orcas Island for the weekend. A sort of extendo bday celebration, and me feeling the need to get away. We stayed at the same place Tim and I did the March before kayla was born, though in a guest room, not the super nice suite. The room worked out well and we enjoyed the stay there. Saturday morning we were hard pressed to find some breakfast as the “negative energy” bug seemed to have hit Orcas Island. We left the first restaurant (out of 3 choices) because they were so unfriendly, and found another that worked though the cook was having a bit of a hard day too. Luckily it didn’t get passed on in the food.
After breakfast we hit the Mayday festival in town. Kayla was super cute and really enjoyed the hula dancing. She was so impressed that when everyone else clapped she let go of Tim and clapped herself while standing alone. She was so proud of herself. She’s really getting better at that standing alone thing. After K. crawled all over town and was admired by many onlookers, we drove to Moran state park to go on a hike. Being as we are all out of shape, and Kayla wants to do nothing but walk (with assistance) or crawl, we didn’t make it to the end, but we did hike for a good couple hours or so. Kayla really wants to walk all the the time now. This would make her first trail in the woods. Way to go little northwesterner.
