We had quite a busy Sunday. We started out at Chad and Kelli’s house for brunch. Then after nap we headed to Seward park and met up with Joe, Korey and master Beni.
Tim loves the tiger hat so much he has Kayla wear it every chance he gets.
We ended the day getting food from Kabul’s kabab and heading over to Riqui, Mari and Ricardo’s home. It felt good to see everyone, we miss our friends sometimes.

Jenni hosted a birthday party for Meg, Aiden and Kayla who all turned one within a week of each other.
It was a really nice brunch complete with sugar free/wheat free/egg free/sweet potato frosting cake for the 1 year olds, and they all really enjoyed it.
Jenni and Steve gave the kids these cool tiger hats, that when worn on the first birthday, it catches the goodness falling from the heavens between the ears of the tiger. We couldn’t get her to wear the hat at the party, but Tim had success later that day. Pretty cute. It even has a tail that sticks out at the back.

Kayla’s friend Bea turned one today, so we went to the zoo to celebrate.
I think the youngsters had more fun on this bench than looking at the animals today. Bea is in white.

Today was the big day of turning 1. She made it past infanthood, wow! We had a great day, starting with kitty shaped pancakes.
We opened some presents, played outside a bit, took a nap, and then headed to Seward park for a picnic and hike. It was an amazing day weather-wise for some outdoor celebrating.

Today Kayla and I drove down to Longview. Tim was in bed with the flu. Kayla and I had it a few days before. It was a quick but bad one. We shared an Easter dinner with the family, and then they threw a birthday party for Kayla.
She took some time to warm up, but seemed to enjoy all the attention after a while. She liked walking behind the truck and playing with her balloon.

We rule this playground. We will find a way to climb onto this ledge. We will get totally dirty. We will eat as much sand/gravel/rocks/woodchips as we please, and you will follow where we wish to go.
Unless of course you want to take me to the Science center where I can play in the water. Then, I will follow you.

Sonom, Marla and Ava came over this weekend. They were sweet enough to watch Kayla while Tim and I went out for a beer. It had been a while since the two of us were out. It sounds as though Kayla and Ava had a pretty good time. Kayla has been really snuggly lately, often coming over and putting her head in my lap. So sweet!
Kayla has been using her walker lately. She hasn’t stood on her own again in a while, but she seems like she wants to be able to. She has also found her tounge and delights in showing it to you and having you return the favor. Kayla has been seemingly enjoying the spring flowers when we go out and about, and is getting pretty good at signing flower. (It does look just like her “water” sign, but it helps when she points to it). She is also noticing when something like water spills on herself. Her association of objects is increasing as well. She seems to make the connection between things she sees in books and real life pretty well, and is using her signs more broadly now, recognizing that everyone has a drink for instance, and that one sign can be used for all that.

I’m such a big girl I can feed myself yogurt. I had fun watching her eat this bowl of yogurt. Luckily it didn’t get all over the floor.
Kayla got pretty sick last weekend. It was sad to see her so ill. She slept on me the whole weekend, and then wanted to be held all week after that, though she was cranky too. I was so happy to see my little Kayla re-emerge on Thursday. It was a good day! We went and played with a couple other babies who had the same illness, so we figured they wouldn’t be spreading it further. Kymber took a swing with the three.
